I think that stuff, and by this I mean the material stuff, not emotional, metaphysical stuff, just kind of creeps up on you and you really only discover it when trying to move.
I have four strollers. There's the red and black Safety 1st stroller that we bought as a 'travel system' before Samuel was born. He haaaaaated it. Oh my did he ever hate that thing. So we pretty much never ever used it except for the carseat part. And when we bought him a new carseat at around 9 months or so, that also fell out of use. So it sits forlorn and somehow still raggedy looking despite having actually gotten very little use.
Then I have the cheapo Walmart umbrella stroller that I always seem to fall back on because it's just so light and easy. Except that Samuel really doesn't fit in it at all anymore so it's mostly for Clara these days.
And then I have a jogging stroller. It was a gift. And we liked it a lot but it swerves to one side quite a bit and we think it has something to do with an axel...or something; we're not very technical people. Anyway, it clearly needs to be looked at by someone other than us.
And we have a Jeep Wagoneer double stroller with a huge basket underneath. It's a boat, but it is also the easiest way to transport both children simultaneously somewhere. It is almost-but-not-quite too much trouble for me to bother with it. I prefer to hold Samuel's hand and walk with Clara in the carrier, but David likes to push them in the double stroller. I imagine if we have more children I will see the benefit of the Wagoneer more and more.
And I have two carriers, a Monkeywrap and a Beco Butterfly II. Clara has pretty much outgrown the wrap and is in the Beco most of the time when I use a carrier.
And we have two carseats, the Safety 1st bucket seat that Clara uses, and Samuel's Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 Deluxe, which is the worst carseat evah. Huge behemoth. You would think for the amount I paid for it I would like it more.
Some of this stuff we clearly can't get rid of, but I'm just looking at it all and thinking about how many 'things' we seem to require just to transport our children.
