OB outing day!

How can you tell you're a woman who rarely gets out anymore?  By having 'OB Appt. Day' circled on your calendar.

Honestly, I have remembered and then forgotten this day for the past three weeks, over and over again.  The only times it would stick in my mind for any length of time was when something went wrong that was going to gum up the works of having a smooth appt.

Like when David forgot my appt. and agreed to a 7-3 shift, leaving me with no one to care for Samuel.  That was issue #1.  My life may not be all that exciting these days but I would rather not increase the excitement level by, say, bringing a tantrum-prone toddler to a large medical centre while Mama gets a cervical check.  Call me crazy but that sounds like no fun at all.

Neither does the 2 hour round trip drive with said toddler strapped into a carseat.  Also not a good time.

Or the fact that this morning he found a permanent black Sharpie and coloured on himself.  Combine that with his steadfast screaming refusal of baths and the fact that my OB's office is beside the social worker's and I'm going to be the poster child for "Tsk. Tsk. Some people's children..."

But it's ok!  It's ok.  I have a plan!

Clothing for if it's too hot or too cold.  Food, water, enough diapers and covers and wet wipes to manage a full day's outing, instead of just a 3-4 hour one, and entertainment...

crayons, little toys previously unseen, fun 'stuff' that can be pulled out and played with, and...

I have every intention of stopping by the convenience store and buying something terribly bad for him that may possibly give me 45 minutes of non-screaming driving.  Probably a bag of rice crisps, which he's never eaten before but desperate times call for desperate measures.
