A problem with frugal food watching...

Ok, so here I am, in my kitchen, writing down what we're eating today, and all I can think of it:  "There is NO WAY we're eating $115.00 worth of food this week."  No way.  We went shopping on the 30th and have eaten 9 meals so far, to the tune of about $35, and that's rounding up.  Although it isn't counting the breakdown of cost in using, say, 1/8 of a block of cream cheese that I already had in the fridge, or salt and pepper.  But still.  And we haven't used vast quantities of the food I've purchased.  The pineapple, for example, we've been cutting hunks off of for three days now and still aren't finished it.  I've made the apple pancakes, apple raisin bread and given Samuel at least two large glasses of watered down apple juice, and still this morning I had enough left from the 1 litre container to pour myself a glass.  We've barely made a dent in the canned foods, I've used 1 pkg of ground beef, half a pound of bacon and 1 steak for all the meat needs in the past three days...

What am I missing here?  Why are my food bills as high as they are?  Surely I'm not throwing this stuff out and not realizing it?
