If we have not genuine grace in the family circle, all our outward and public plausibility merely springs from a fear of the world or from the slimy, putrid pool of our own selfishness. I tell you the home is a mighty test of character. What you are at home you are everywhere, whether you demonstrate it or not. -TALMAGE

Seven Quick Takes
Just today...
1. Clara seemed to enjoy her evening massage last night, and so I thought I'd try again this morning. She pooped all over my clean bedding and soaked straight through to the mattress.
2. Samuel vomited all over himself on his walk with Daddy. They had no change of clothes with them, of course.
3. We had four consecutive time-outs with Samuel for hitting me. Mostly involving the fact that I wouldn't let him hit other things. Or turn on the vacuum.
4. Clara, who was very needy but otherwise calm and collected all day, suddenly turned into the baby of doom around 4pm. Crying, wanting to be held constantly, cluster feeding for hours on end and refusing to sleep.
5. Half of the outlets in my house simultaneously stop working. David had to come home from work on his break to fix this problem for me.
6. Supper was cheese, ham and chopped mushrooms, because I completely forgot to feed Samuel until just before bedtime. He ate the ham and cheese and then chewed up and spit out the mushrooms on my clean rug.
7. The cats have worms. Again. Despite being indoor cats with no outside access, no contact with other animals and eating only store-bought food. So we had to deworm them...again. Second time in the last three months.
See Jen for more takes.

Oh, I've been here! Some days it never rains, but it pours. These first few weeks with a new one are a time of transition for the whole family. While there is much delight and lots of love flowing back and forth between and among you all, there is physical and emotional exhaustion that takes time to recover from, and effects each family member differently.
Having your blog and facebook to share your frustrations seems to me to be such a good outlet. I think it's given moms permission to share and own their feelings when, in the past, many would have just kept it to themselves thinking that everyone else was having an easy time of it!
