I'd like, if possible, to have a short post every day in this month leading up to the birth of our first daughter. I'm not making any promises, but it would be nice to have a written record of this time.
Today was Samuel's 2nd birthday! We did cake, sang 'the song' (world's most tuneless melody, right?), ate more cake, bought a big fancy helium balloon, opened presents, had visitors, called grandparents, etc. We also took a lot of pictures, most of which didn't turn out and none of which I can share with you since my camera battery is recharging at the moment.
In other news, Samuel has developed a full blown terror of the bathtub, which has now spread to include the shower, meaning that he will eventually develop a slight cheese all over his body and start to ferment. Every few days I wrestle him clean by sneak-attack shampooing his hair or 'wiping his face' after a meal and making sure to get behind his ears and down his neck. I can also get his arms completely clean by letting him 'wash his hands'. Geez I hope this is a phase or something.
The list of things to do before the baby comes is getting smaller. I've re-written large parts of it and it's down to the following, mostly:
Find instruction manual for the infant car seat.
Move Samuel into his room and get a safety rail for his bed and store the dismantled crib.
Wash the last few items (baby carrier, car seat covers, etc.)
Pack a hospital bag and write a birth plan and give it to my OB
Finish working and all that entails.
If I can get that done, I'm also willing to consider getting David to shampoo the carpets again, if the weather gets nice, sorting Samuel's toys into some better bins, hanging the livingroom curtains, and writing out some instructions for my Mom for when she watches Samuel.
