seven quick takes

As always, check out Jen at Conversion Diary to find more Seven Quick Takes.

This past week feels like it's been stuck in molasses, one of those periods of time where, despite having been moderately productive, you feel as if you've done nothing, accomplished nothing, have failed, failed, failed...and so I'm going to try and remind myself of at least seven things I've done this week, and maybe get this week into some perspective!

1.  Samuel and I spent several hours going through bags and bags of girl's clothes, sorting, tossing, folding and organizing according to size.  Our goal was accomplished:  there is a neat pile of all of the clothes I'll need for baby Presley in the children's room and everything else is organized according to size and sorted into marked bags in the storage room.

2.  I mailed our annual Christmas box of presents to family in Ottawa, got out over half of our Christmas cards and bought American stamps for the rest.  They may end up being Epiphany cards, but they will arrive, eventually.

3.  Every last gift, with the exception of Samuel's present to David, has been wrapped.  Including stocking stuffers.

4.  Thanks to a final shopping push, and the judicious use of several grocery store gift cards I've been hoarding, Christmas dinner is not only fully purchased, but only cost me 34 cents!

5.  We made a Christmas stocking this week, and clay beads as a craft.

6.  I prepared our favourite only-at-Christmas dessert...and you'll have to be surprised!

7.  David managed to catch up on the laundry completely on Thursday, so despite the rest of the house being in some disorder, we all smell nice, and that's what counts, right?

And I need to remember the things not on our Christmas to-do lists.  The hour of pre-dawn snuggling with the family in bed this morning, the new word from a 21 month old: "Angels, Dada!  Angels!".  The nativity scene is up and admired, the weather unseasonably warm and mild but pleasant for long walks, the last Wiggle, Giggle and Munch lunchtime play group until January 4th, the cheerful phone conversations long distance as we catch up with friends.

So that I try and stop, for even a few minutes, every day in this time of wonder and grace, you may notice I've been posting a 30 second video each and every day.  Something that makes me wonder at the season, or at my fortune, that God should look so favourably upon me and those in my charge.

Merry Christmas.
