Our church

It wasn't always this way, but church has become a central focus for us in the past few years as my husband has discerned a very clear call to the ministry, and we have, in the past week, started the process of getting from where we are today to recieving a church of our very own to guard and guide and worship with. It's very exciting, but, as we discovered today, it's also a road that carries with it sad moments. You see, for the past year and a half we have been attending a little Anglican congregation that has befriended us in a strange town. It was this church that threw me a baby shower, drove us home from the hospital with our son, and baptised him six months later. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we are going to miss them desperately as we continue our journey. This will be our last Sunday service as members of an Anglican congregation as we prepare to join the Wesleyan church. There are a lot of reasons we're not pursuing ordination in the Anglican tradition, but I'm not in a state of mind to discuss the pros and cons of anything, just to feel a little blue and try and remember that, ultimately, this life is about following God's will for us and not our own.

And at the moment the change is going to be a little hectic and a lot filled with paperwork as we begin the interviews, the meetings, the application forms and so forth. Not to mention the fact that David's old Wesleyan church got back to him today regarding the transfer of his formal membership with the answer "Um...we can't find your membership" which means we may need to take the membership course all over again. But I'm being positive, and thinking about the process of moving forward and onward with a plan that was concieved by God and treasured by us for years, and is now, finally, starting.

Hallelujah. And pray that they find the bloody paperwork.

It's brave, and exciting, steps you guys are taking, Amy. I feel for your sadness, though. We miss our Anglican congregation too. I'm inspired by your faith and faithfulness. God bless you, all three.
