concerning the sick house

Ah, sick people. We have one here with us these days, my darling husband and love of my life is snifling his way around the place and drinking ginger ale. He went out to get some cold medicine and I hope it works for him, though I have my suspicions about cold medicine. Personally I think colds just come and go like the economy and the only thing you can do is drink a lot of liquids and sleep. Kind of like dealing with the economy, come to think of it.

I'm going to make him one medicine that won't fail, however. Make a syrup of equal parts water and sugar, add several lemons quartered and minced ginger and simmer until the liquid is quite strong. Drink diluted with warm water, preferably wrapped in something soft and sitting on the sofa.

Works every time.
